“William has done an amazing job creating a beautiful home-away-from-home. The cottage is warm and inviting, very nicely decorated (but not OVER decorated- just right), and CLEAN!! I would bring my mother here, it is so clean. Everything you need is in place, ready for you to make a fire in the wood stove and kick back. Watch the sun set over the trees from the front porch. Listen to the crickets, OR stream your favorite punk album on Youtube with the most excellent wi fi. However you like. Drive 10 minutes to excellent hiking, fishing, waterfall gazing, and friendly town of Rochester, where they have the most excellent key lime pie at the Rochester Cafe. I think this place would be great for solitude AND/OR to bring the family or a few couples- the cottage is a perfect size for both- not too big; not too small. William and Emily are excellent hosts, very responsive and generous to their guests. I would stay here again without hesitation.”

"William's house in the mountains is a fabulous getaway destination. It's everything that it was advertised to be and then some. Perfectly clean and well furnished with plenty of great amenities. Great communication with owner who have obviously gone out of his way to make this home special for all his guests. Hope to be back soon if he'll have me!! Thanks for everything.”

"I had the best stay. I wish I could give this place more than 5 stars. I had some car trouble and William was incredibly helpful and understanding. The surrounding area is beautiful as is the house. Only complaint is that I can't live there full-time.”

"I have always loved being in the mountains. Traveling New England winding roads and enjoying the views of peaks, valleys, forests and fields is a joyful experience. At times I have seen a far off farmhouse or cabin on the side of a mountain and wondered what it would be like to spend time there. Red Acre Cottage answered that question. We recently spent a splendid summer weekend at the cottage enjoying the tranquil setting and the wonderful ambience of the house. At first glance, the place looks like an old-time cabin or farmhouse but once inside you realize that it has all the modern conveniences and comforts presented in a very charming way. Will has taken great pains to furnish and decorate the house with a quirky kind of simplicity and grace. We found the kitchen to be fully functional with everything we needed to prepare and serve our meals. The beds were super comfortable and we really loved the comforters. We can't wait to go back."

"Fantastic house. Stayed here with our two kids for nearly a week and had a wonderful time. So mellow, well appointed, comfortable! Tasteful decoration, lovely yard, idyllic setting. We cooked dinner nearly every night and had all the equipment we needed for elaborate meals--pots, pans, knives, trays, tongs, spices--which was a real pleasure. I brought a few books but ended up reading one off of the shelf and played the house copy of Stratego with my son, after which we pulled a DVD off the shelf and watched it. Seriously, this place is so well stocked. I saw a croquet set in the closet but we didn't get to use it because we spent most days exploring the area. Rochester Center is small but has a decent supermarket (with local grass-fed beef), a great cafe/bookstore, and bike rentals. PYO berry farm at the bottom of the hill. Warren Falls, a few miles north on VT 100, has got to be one of the world's most amazing swimming holes, and Warren Center itself is like a Brigadoon where Lawson's Finest Liquids makes a special delivery to the Warren General Store on Thursday mornings. Really lovely and quiet area; my wife and I went for a walk on the local roads each morning and had a wonderful time. Can't wait to go back and explore this area in the winter. Highly recommended!"

“Cottage is exceptional! Well furnished, fantastic location, beautiful setting, and comfortable. I anticipate that the experience will simply get even better over time, as Will is clearly committed to both sustainable living and providing an expert knowledge base of the area to his guests. I'll be back as soon as I am able.”

"It was a delight to spend a long weekend at Will's home. My wife and I traveled with our 10 month old daughter and another couple with a 7 month old. The space was perfect for a group of our size. Everything was very clean and as pictured. Comfy living room, cozy bedrooms, and a large kitchen space with a dining table where we spent a lot of our time planning each day's trips. The yard on the side of the house is also large, and is a great space for yard games or for little ones to run around - I'm sure ours will be doing just that next time we visit. The location is perfect getting around the state. Rochester is very centrally located in Vermont, making it a really super home base if you have a lot of destinations in Vermont that you want to make it to. We made stops at Warren Falls, Moss Glen Falls, and Lake Pleiad just off the Long Trail, all of which were in the 15-30 minute range from the house. We also made the drive up to Stowe (45min - 1hr) to visit the Alchemist tap room, and on the way back made a pit stop at Ben & Jerry's for a cone. The town of Rochester itself is very small, but with a quaint center of town boasting a couple of restaurants, a market, and few little shops. We popped into Sandy's bakery/bookstore on the way out of town and were not disappointed. We'd love to stay at the Red Acre Cottage again in the future, and I'd recommend it without hesitation.”

"My husband and I loved William’s charming cottage set in the beautiful Vermont Green Mountains. It was very clean when we arrived (we’re neat-freaks) and it had everything we needed for our four day stay. We could tell that the owners truly care about the guest experience and the quality of their cottage. The internet access is excellent, too :-) The location of the cottage provides central access to outdoor adventures in the mountains. We hiked along the Long Trail and cooled off in a local swimming hole. We were also able to enjoy some great restaurants (Sandy’s Bakery and the School Street Bistro, both in Rochester), and we even met several friendly locals in town (Richard, James, Sara, etc!). To cap off our busy days, we spent several evenings relaxing on the front porch and taking in the night sky. We hope to return to the cottage in the winter for some snow-centric fun."
